Since my last post things have been pretty rocky. Not knowing were to even start in finding a job, were to cut back on expenses, or even what do we do next week. I have been pounding the street and have found about 14 leads that are either hiring or possibly could hire depending on my resume. This is encouraging and all but tonight I found the sweet spot.
Before I describe that sweet spot, let me explain the day I had yesterday. I had to go to the DMV twice to renew the registration on the car. The first trip was to learn that the insurance was expired and that they were not going to allow me to renew. I called the insurance company and explained to the agent that they did not have proof of insurance. This was the fourth time that the agent sent over the information. I dont get it! They (DMV) had the paperwork on their system but I still had to prove with a letter and new insurance cards that my coverage was indeed continuious and current. Another trip to DMV.
Ok. That hurdle over, on to the next one. Laurie got a ticket some time ago and I thought I had better pay it. Well they dont take payments for tickets at the DMV and was told to go to the court house. Fair enough. I drove to the court house, went through security, you know like I would carry a gun or some silly thing, got my number and checked in. I waited a few minutes and my number was called up. I went to the window and told the agent my name and what I wanted to do. As he was going through the files on the computer, he asked what kind of ticket was it? I said "photo radar". The agent looked at me and said we dont do those here. WHAT! It is a ticket! They take care of those tickets at another court house. He then asked me "which one do you want?" FLIP! There is more than one! I thought. I asked him which one it is and he grabbed a piece of paper and tried to remember the name. Just my luck! It left his memory. He said sorry but if I really wanted to take care of the ticket, I could call information and get the right one. Called information and sure enough there is a court that takes the payment of the ticket. But as always the system was computerized which left me scrambling for a pen to jot down the right number. Not finding a pen in the truck, I locked the door and ran inside to borrow a pen. WHEW! Making progress! Oh wait, I get to the truck and the keys are sitting on the seat and yes the doors are locked!!!
Anyway I am standing outside waiting for Laurie to bring me the second set of truck keys. What she brings me is the suburban key and an old chevy key of which I dont remember where it goes. Great! Ok I have to think very serious now or I am going to pop. The s-10 does not have power locks so it made the task extra hard to open the door. Well call me McGyver! With a plastic tent stake, a 1/4 inch drive rachet extension, the clamp from the suburban jack, the rod from the spare tire lower thingi, and a piece of flat strap steel, I was able to unlock the door to the truck. Thank goodness.
On the way home, runoutofgasitis hits Laurie and I have to buy gas again for a car that will not run on fumes! Automakers help me!
That was yesterday. Tonight, Jolie, Murphy, (the dog) and myself went on a little walk this evening and I truely enjoyed it! The evening air was just right and it was a good time spent with Jolie. We walked in the neighborhood and spotted a gecko and made a few dogs bark, but the one on one with my little girl made all that stuff from yesterday go away. We talked about the science camp that I am going to chaperone with her group, school getting over, what she wants to do during the summer and how to get a sleepover in with her friend kaitlyn. It was very precious. I felt very proud at that moment that I could spend a little time with someone that I love very much. It felt good to be just a dad, working or not. Truely a blessing to be a parent. I want to include this with the rest of the family before it gets too hot so we can spend time together.
Well gotta go, It is late and I have many job apps to fill out and phone calls to make. Have a good week!

I am so sorry you had to have a day like that! It was even worse than I heard the first time!
I am glad to hear you take the time to enjoy your daughter and the little things!
Are any of the job prospects good ones?
Sounds like there is a couple of immediate openings for a superintendent like myself. One is working on a new sherriffs/ courthouse and the other is for a hospital. Either one will work.
